PTFE Coating Options and Capabilities
Merit Medical Coatings applies PFOA-free polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) coating to medical tubes and round or flat wires. We offer coating options that vary in lubricity and texture and can meet the requirements of nearly any medical device tubing or wire. Coatings are applied using our world-renowned spool-to-spool process prior to further processing.

- Two-coat system combining PTFE and polyethersulfone (PES)
- Lubricious and durable, smooth surface
- Suitable for hypotubes, stylets/mandrels
- Base Materials: Stainless steel, Nitinol, copper, other alloys
- Colors: Green, Black, Blue, Grey, Clear

PTFE DuraBond™
Features
- Reinforced for superior cohesion
- Hard and smooth surface finish
- High wear resistance
- Stronger bond between the various layers results in a harder surface
- Ideal for guide wires, hypotubes, stylets/mandrels
- Base Materials: Stainless Steel, Nitinol, other alloys
- Coefficient of Friction (COF): < 0.20
- Temperature resistance < 220 °C
- Withstands IPA (70%) soaking (up to 24 hours)
- Withstands 0.9% Saline Exposure (as clinical practice)
